4to: 479-[15] pp. (final blank missing; title cut out and mounted).

Old half vellum, flat spine titled in ink (paper of covers rubbed, front flyleaf gone). Good copy.

Latin translation by the Swiss humanist and Reformer Gwalther (1519-1586) of the Greek encyclopedic dictionary of Julius Pollux, Greek scholar and rhetorician from Naucratis, Ancient Egypt (2nd c. A.D.). It supplies much rare and valuable information on many points of classical antiquity - objects in daily life, the theater, politics - and quotes numerous fragments of lost works. Woodcut mark at the end. Printed in italics.
