18th-c. calf, covers ruled with gilt fillets, gilt decorated spine on raised bands, gilt edges (sm. traces of use).
Rare Rouen edition of this popular collection of stories and anecdotes by Boaistuau (1517-1566), compiled from classical and early Christian sources, and presenting various miseries and sufferings a man has to endure (famine, disease...).
