Lot description
Gouache, goldpaint, c. 13,4 x 8,8 cm, laid paper, ms. notes "Genes: 32. V. 26." and "1612 / [...] / MATHEUS JOHANNES LUCAS MARCUS / Joh: Jacobo Stollio Raue [...]" (few sm. losses and stains).
Laid down on paper. Hinged at left edge, under passe-partout.
Nice colourful pair with ornamental strapwork. A depiction of Genesis 32:26 ("Then the man said, 'Let me go, for it is daybreak.' But Jacob replied, 'I will not let you go unless you bless me.'"), and the Stoll coat of arms with the symbols of the four Evangelists.
