Lot description
62 x between 2,5 and 4,5 cm, 524 g, including 13 parts, 4 of which assembled with wooden screw threads and removable, lower parts decorated with pyrogravures (expertly restored cracks at the base of the second lower part and of the upper part).
Rare and curious Baroque-style decorative sceptre. The upper half is in narwhal ivory (polished twists), except for the orb (decorated with pyrographed fillets) and the cross that surmounts it, which are in elephant ivory. The pommel is in bone. The lower half is richly decorated with pyrogravures representing the coat of arms of King Frederick I of Sweden (1676-1751) and two portraits of his predecessors, Queen Christine (1626-1689) and Charles X Gustave (1622-1660).
