Lot description
Engr., 38 x 50,1 cm, hand-coloured (light traces of central fold, few tiny spots).
Hinged at upper edge. Under passe-partout.
Copied after Blaeu's map, depicting the Principality of Orange and the Comtat Venaissin, part of the Papal States, engr. by Evert Simonsz Hamersvelt. It figures the renowned Rhône wine region, mentioning the famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape. With a dedication to Frederick Henry, Prince of Orange. Extracted from a French ed. of Hondius' "Nouveau Théâtre du Monde" or Janssonius' "Le Nouvel Atlas" (1646) (text on verso, leaf 3e, no pagination).
