Lot description
Engr., 27,2 x 20,5 cm, on laid paper with watermark (deer in shield with cross, close to Briquet 3338) (few light traces of creases).
Large margined copy.
Rare map of Rhodes from a Lafreri atlas, with ships and sea monsters around the finely engraved island with its towns (o.a. Rhodes, Lindos and Camirus), forests and mountains. In the cartouche, a mention of the Siege of Rhodes (1522) during which the Ottomans expelled the Knights of Rhodes.
