Contemp. sp. and blind-st. calf, spine with raised bands (corners bumped, scratches on covers, restaurations to spine).

First English ed. by the French diplomat to Siam La Loubère (1642-1729). Ill. with 2 maps and 9 full-page pl. Loubère's account of his voyage to modern day Thailand. Notable for one of the earliest accounts of a parachute. Furthermore about chess, smoking, Siamese alphabet, astronomy and a description of Cape of Good Hope. Title in red & black.
