Signal was a very famous propaganda bimonthly translated in more than 25 languages and published by the Wehrmacht during WWII from April 1940 to March 1945 exclusively in countries outside Germany (in countries under occupation, neutral or adversaries). The editors were Harald Lechenperg (1940-1941), Heinz Medefind (1941) and Wilhelm Reets (1942-1944). The French edition is the most widely distributed and has many variations from the German and other foreign language versions with articles promoting French culture and army, the battle against URSS, etc. Articles from the German version have been deleted in the French edition. This variation can be explained by the search to "rally the French by nourishing the illusion of a collaboration".
