Oblong 4to: [24 incl. engr. title]-656 pp.; 140 (of 143) maps (maps "Hispania nova", Virginia & Florida and Cuba missing, indexes bound in the begin. instead of at the end, some light soiling on map of Lake of Geneva, some marg. soiling in lower corner of last part, sometimes cities marked with red crayon on maps).
Contemp. overl. vellum, flat spine (upper headband loosening, endpapers partly lifted, turn-in of front board unstuck, sl. soiled).
First Janssonius edition of Mercator's "Atlas Minor", in Latin, with 140 maps from the set of copperplates newly engraved by Pieter van de Keere and Abraham Goos. J. Hondius made this reduced version of Mercator's Atlas Maior for younger people. Incl. a world map, maps of the continents and regional maps.
