Sm. 8vo: [64 (of 66)] ff. (title and A8 missing, (water) stains, sm. hole in pl. 34, cut a bit too short shaving a few pl.).
19th-c. half brown calf, marbled paper on boards, gilt- and blind-orn. flat spine (used, one joint starting to split, def. on endcaps, inner joints split).
First edition of this booklet published by the "Wiener Totentanz-Bruderschaft" as a "memento mori" reading. Only a few copies of the original are known to exist. Ill. with 61 (pl. 7 missing) engravings accompanying a Scripture verse with its German translation and a quatrain in German. Enriched with an engraving (French caption "Ainsy fuit la gloire du monde") laid on a f. in frontispiece. Old ms. note on endpaper.
