Cont. panel-stamped calf, spine on 3 raised bands, fore-edge and bottom edge titled, in slipcase (rebacked, rubbed). Good copy.
Rare edition of one of the many collections of sermons by the German Benedictine monk Haymo (Haimo) of Halberstadt (d. 853). Probably a Louvain binding (worn) with binder’s mark "IC" and on both covers a medallion portrait of Emperor Charles V with "Plus Oultre" (above) and "Carolus V Imp" (below). Ref.
