Lot description

Grey ink and wash, 41,7 x 58,9 cm, laid paper (few spots, sl. browned, sl. wavy, sm. tear).

Laid down on passe-partout.

Large and fine grisaille of St Lambert's Cathedral, which was destroyed after the Liège Revolution at the end of the 18th c. At left the Prince-Bishops' Palace. The sheet shows marked similarities with a watercolour by Jean Nicolas Ponsart (1788-1870) in the Grand Curtius in Liège.
