Contemp. black long-grained morocco decorated with 19th-c. large Rococo style embossed and chiselled silver ornaments incl. borders with engr. mention at the bottom on upper board, corners with oval cartouche orn. with figures of cherubs and Evangelists, two clasps and central circular cartouche with Crucifixion on upper board, Christ's Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane on lower board, punches "NC" crowned, interlaced blind-stamped fillets, gilt-orn. flat spine, a.e.g., two embroidered silk bookmarks (leather sl. rubbed). Nice copy.

Text on 2 col., printed in red and black, orn. with chromolith. front. and title-frame, and many black in-text, printed liturgical music. The silver ornaments were made by Nicolaas Wilhelmus Crone in Groningen (fl. 1817-1859).
