Later polished sheep, gilt central element with griffin within double gilt-ruled border on covers, gilt-ruled spine with raised bands, marbled edges (corners, sides and joints rubbed, head and tail sl. def., sm. def. on front cover and loosening).

First edition of the Latin poems of the Protestant humanist and theologian Th. de Bèze (1519-1605) containing the Sylves, Elegies, Epitaphs, Icons and Epigrams. Woodcut vign. on title and full-page woodcut portrait of de Bèze on verso title. Printed in italics.
