Mod. marbled paper, flat spine with leather title label.
Rare first Dutch translation (and probably only seperate ed.) of this travel account first published in Thevenot's "Relations de divers voyages curieux" in 1664. It narrates the expedition to the East Indies by August de Beaulieu (1589-1637), French general and commander of the "Fleet of Montmorency", named after its sponsor. With 2 ships captured by the Dutch, the expedition was not entirely successful. Beaulieu wrote in great detail about the journey and his stay in Aceh (Indonesia). Ill. with 7 copper-engr. pl.
