Mod. three-quarter black leather, blue buckram on covers, gilt-ruled flat spine (covers dampstained, sl. rubbing).

First edition of a 6-months journey from and back Bangkok with stops in i.a. Muang Nan, M. Chien Kong and Luang Praband. The object of the journey was "primarily the examination, for the Siamese Government, of a supposed very rich deposit of gems (rubies and sapphires), lately discovered on the left bank of the Mekong, opposite Chien Kong" (Preface, p. v). Illustrated with a front., a full-page map and many in-text ill.
