Lot description

4to: [1042 (of 1044)] pp. (final colophon f. missing; some min. soiling or toning, sm. tear in bl. bottom margin h7, bottom corner GG2 torn off with loss of a few letters).

Old sheep, gilt spine with raised bands and morocco label, red sp. edges (rubbed, sm. def. to front cover, head and tail). Good copy.

Typographical tour-de-force of the Plantin Press: a complete alphabetical concordance to the Vulgate, printed on 4 col. in a tiny font and with "imposition by half-sheet". According to B. de Troeyer, these "Concordantiae" were compiled by Arlottus de Prato (Italian Franciscan; died in Paris, 1286). Plantin followed H. Estienne’s ed. of 1555. Woodcut mark on title.
