Engraving, 22,3 x 29,0 cm, laid paper with watermark (Gothic P), signed "BRUEGEL INVENTOR", address "COCK EXC", Latin text (few spots, sm. repaired tear inside upper platemark, few sm. marg. tears, edges strengthened).

Excellent impression with wide margins.

Fortitude from "The seven virtues" of Pieter Bruegel (c. 1526-1569). The most Boschian composition of the series. After the design drawing in Rotterdam (Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, inv. N 189 (PK)). Dark impression of the 1st state.
