8vo: viii-viii-248-[2] pp.; 9 pl. (marg. damp stain on first ff., sm. tear in fold. of pl. 3, marg. soiling on p. 273, light spotting throughout).
Contemp. half sheep, flat spine with red leather label (joints rubbed, front joint starting to split, corners sl. bumped).
Early work on Western Africa (Senegal, Gambia, Niger River) and the slave trade by Pruneau de Pommegorge, who worked a.o. as a Counsellor in Senegal and Martinique. Ill. with 9 engr. (some fold.), i.a. 4 maps of the route of the Niger River and a view of "Isle et Fort du Senegal".
