First edition of this celebrated treatise by the Austrian ophthalmologist Georg Joseph Beer (1763-1821) who made important advancements in the treatment of cataracts (known as the Beer's operation). He obtained his medical doctorate from the University of Vienna and opened the first known eye hospital in Vienna in 1786. Ill. with 16 fold. pl., 11 coloured depicting different eye diseases and 5 b/w depicting various instruments.
