Rare travel account of the French departments in the Southern Netherlands by Breton de la Martinière (1777-1852), known for "La Chine en miniature" and "Le Japon". This work continues the work "Voyage dans les départemens de la France par une société d'artistes et de gens de lettres" by Joseph Lavallée (1747-1816), at which Breton collaborated for the text parts. This copy includes five departments: Meuse-Inférieure (Limburg), Dyle (Brabant), Lys (West Flanders), Escaut (East and Zeelandic Flanders) and Deux-Nèthes (Antwerp). Ill. with 14 engr. pl. and 5 engr. fold. maps.
