Copper engr., 50 x 59,4 cm, hand-coloured.
Map of the governorate of Ceylon, established by the Dutch East India Company, with the Adam's Bridge ("Adams brugh") clearly depicted, linking Mannar island (Sri Lanka) to Rameswaram island (coast of India). Large decorative title cartouche with natives and an elephant. North oriented to the right. First published in 1689.
