Contemp. vellum, flat spine (sl. soiled). Very good copy.
First illustrated ed. of a verse history of Frisia by the Catholic Frisian nobleman Hamconius (1550-1620) 1st publ. Münster 1609, re-issued Amst. 1623). The present copy belongs to the issue with a dedication to Albert of Austria. "Contains an account of a voyage of the Frisons to America and Chile, long before Columbus" (Sabin). Woodcut arms on title and on verso of title. Full-page engr. portrait of Hamconius and 53 engraved portraits of rulers (incl. Charlemagne, Charles V, Philip II, Albert & Isabella) by P. Harling(anu)s (= Pieter Feddes). Title in red and black with border of type ornaments. Printed within ruled border throughout.
