2 vol., 4to: xliv-394, xxii-432 pp. (prelims. iii-vi missing; some spotting, 187-190 of first vol. repaired with tape).
Contemp. gilt-decor. black shagreen, gilt-orn. spine with raised bands, gilt sides and inner dentelles (min. rubbing on joints, heads and tails). Wide-margined, partly uncut copy in a fine binding.
With numerous wood-engraved illustrations in-text. On land birds (8th ed.) and water birds (6th ed.).
