Lot description
61,2 x 46,8 cm, brown ink, enhanced with watercolour, in French, laid paper with watermark J. Honig & Zoon (sm. tears without loss on folds, some pinholes, marg. water stains).
Nice plan by an architect and surveyor based in Tournai, father of Louis Haghe (1806-1885), Belgian lithographer and watercolourist. It represents the properties of the concession owner: "maison appartenant au demandeur en concession", "fosse d'extraction" ("chaussée de Charleroi à Bruxelles") and "fosse d'airage", and several buildings in the area: two mills, "cabaret dit la [sic] carosse", "verrerie des enfans Schimdt [i.e. Schmidt]", "maison Nicolas Goffinet", "cense de Diarbois", etc. On this concession, see "Arrêté portant concession au C.en Derasse, des mines dites du Grand-Bourdia, du Grand-Peigne et du Hasard", in: Bull. des lois de la République, n. 263, 1803, p. 140.
Prov. "Archives de l'ingénieur Miché" (ms. mention on verso), probably Godefroy-Alexandre Miché (1755-1820), chief engineer at the "Corps royal des mines", member of several learned societies (ref. obituary in: Annales des mines, 1820, pp. 587-588, online).
