Rather rare French edition of this pocket size road atlas (1st ed. 1719) by John Senex (1678-1740), English cartographer, engraver, explorer and official astrologer and geographer to Queen Anne. Engr. ills (compl.): calligraphic title in French and English, 1 general map of England & Wales and 101 strip road maps, printed back to back. With 8 pp. of text and tables in French, translated from the English by Le Rouge. Senex's road maps were reductions of those published by John Ogilby in 1675. The vol. was bound for practical use on the road, in a flexible leather cover with a string fastener (now missing). Ref. Shirley (Atlases in BL) T.SEN-3a. - Not in Bn-Opale plus.
