Lot description

Engraving, 24,8 x 19,2 cm, wove paper, signed "P. Bruegel inven. / Corne. de Boudt", Latin text, ms. note in pen (some spots, few light white stains).

Wide margins. Framed. Grammar prize for a priest.

Copy by Cornelius de Boudt (1660-1738) after Philips Galle's engraving dated 1571 (New Hollstein (Philips Galle) 173). The inscription makes clear this impression was given as a grammar prize in 1795 to Joannes Haelterman from Okegem (Ninove), who later became a priest in the area of Ninove and Aalst.
