Lot description

23 silver prints, diff. sizes, pasted on thick paper, no legends.

Kept in an obl. string bound 4to album with cloth covers.

Visit of Paul Ramlot (d. 1967), director of the Banque Sino-Belge, a branch of the Société Générale de Belgique, founded in 1902 on demand of Leopold II to facilitate the financial transactions between Belgium and China, and his wife to China. Ramlot and his wife were close to Raoul Warocqué (1870-1917) a collectioner of not only books, but also classic, oriental, near-eastern and far-eastern antiquities. During his visit to China Ramlot contributed to the increase of Warocqué's collection as a letter shows. Ramlot also receives Warocqué in his residence in Shangai on the occasion of his journey in 1910. The photos in the album show mostly Ramlot's wife with their 3 children at several sites in China.
