2 pts in 1 vol., 8vo: [44]-277-[14], 109-[3] pp.; 4 pl. (foxing, sm. tears without loss to pl. p. 247, sl. marg. damp stain in quire Q).

Contemp. mottled calf, gilt-orn. spine with raised bands, red spr. edges (sl. rubbed, front cover detached).

Very rare edition of a major work (1st 1717) by Lorenz Heister (1683-1758), founder of scientific surgery in Germany and prof. of anatomy at Altdorf. Illustrated with 4 fold. plates. The 2nd part is composed of the "Oration de incrementis anatomiae [...]. Publice dicta D. XVIII juli MDCCXX", discourse pronounced when he took the charge of Professor of anatomy and surgery at Helmstedt.
