Folio: title and 55 pl. (foxing, pl. "Jupiter tonant" with strong mouldy spots and soiling, one long stain to pl. "Vuë externe des trois chambres sépulcrales...", sm. damp stain to some lower margins, marg. wormholes).
Mod. three-quarter purple simili-leather, marbled paper covers, gilt-ruled flat spine.
Contains 55 plates with 92 copper-engr. views after drawings by the French painter and engraver Barbault (1718-1762), representing the Castel Sant'Angelo, the Pantheon, the Tombs of the Scipios and of Caecilia Metella, the Ponte Rotto or Pons Aemilius, the Temple of Clitumnus in Umbria nearby Spoleto, the Arch of Augustus in Rimini, remains of the water tower of Marcia on Esquiline Hill near St. Eusebius, the Verona arena, some statues, altars, etc. Vignette on title.
