Mod. half brown leather, marbled paper on covers, spine with raised bands.
Second ed. (1st 1809) of this atlas volume only of the account of the first British mission to Abyssinia. Ill. (complete) with 72 engraved maps and plates after Henry Salt. George Annesley, 2nd Earl of Mountnorris FRS (1770-1844), styled Viscount Valentia between 1793 and 1816, was a British peer and politician. In 1802 Salt was appointed secretary and draughtsman to Viscount Valentia and together they started on an eastern tour, travelling on Minerva to India via the Cape. Salt returned in 1806 and provided the drawings for the plates of which some were published separately as "Twenty-Four Views in St. Helena, the Cape, India, Ceylon, the Red Sea, Abyssinia and Egypt".
