4to: [8]-278 pp. (some min. (damp)staining, title sl. cut short on top, pl. f. 81 pasted).
Later green quarter sheep, marbled paper on covers, gilt-orn. flat spine (spine somewhat shaved).
Rare and curious work on the atrocities committed by the Spanish occupiers during the Eighty Years' War (1568-1648) probably to "relaunch" a spirit of war after the Twelve Years' Truce (1609-1621). Illustrated with 3 engr. portraits: the 3rd Duke of Alba, the Prince of Orange and Luis de Requesens, an engr. title representing the erection of the new bishoprics, the inquisition tribunal and various executions and 36 full-page pl. which were used for the work of G. Baudaert "Afbeeldinghe, ende beschrijvinghe van alle de veld-slagen, belegeringen [...] ghevallen in de Nederlanden [...]". Printed in 2 col. in Gothic.
