Lot description
Engr., 43,2 x 55 cm, old hand-coloured (sl. browned and spotted).
Framed (not studied outside frame).
Rare Blaeu's reissue after Gerrytz's death in 1632 (1st 1613), when Blaeu had bought the original copperplate and added his own imprint. With a large inset plan of Moscow and a view of Archangelsk, Russia's only northern port before 1700. Based upon manuscript maps brought back (?) by the Dutch grain trader and envoy to Russia Isaac Massa and a draught by the Crown Prince Fydor Gudonov.
