Interesting historical set of postcards remembering American Independence Day in Antwerp on the 4th of July in 1919 showing parades with American and Belgian troops and the chasseurs alpins (the elite mountain infantry force of the French Army), enthusiast Antwerp people cheering for the troops, and the visit of Brand Whitlock, American ambassador to Belgium. Five postcards showing the repatriation of the remains of Charles Fryatt, a British merchant seaman who was court martialled by the Imperial German Navy for attempting to ram a German U-boat in 1915.
