Black chalk, heightened with white, framing line in black ink, 15,6 x 26,9 cm, blue laid paper, unsigned (few spots, sl. browned evenly).
Underlaid.
Dynamic sketch of a battle with soldiers on horseback. Adam Frans van der Meulen (1632-1690) was a French court painter who produced wide battle scenes in paintings, prints and drawings, sometimes in the same technique. See similar sheets in Paris (Louvre, inv. 20068, 69, 75).
