Lot description

4to: [68] ff. (sl. browning, some foxing).

Contemp. overl. vellum, flat spine with sm. shelf-mark label. Very good copy.

Re-issue of the ed. of 1602, ill. with an engr. title and 59 full-page engr. medallion portraits of classical deities, each within an elaborate historiated or ornamental border, by Philips Galle. Based on Ortelius' collections of ancient coins and with historical comments by Sweertius. The engr. on f. I2 and I4 are corrected by pasting over, as in all copies. The engr. "CANOPI" (f.
