Lot description
Etching, roulette, watercolour, 18,9 x 15,0 cm, signed and dated in pencil on verso "P. Saanredam. del. 1630. Ploos van Amstel. J. C. F: 1774.".
Mounted on passe-partout at left edge. Excellent condition. Fine contemporary hand-colouring.
The artist and publisher Cornelis Ploos van Amstel (1726-1798) produced this print after a drawing by Pieter Jansz. Saenredam (1597-1665), famous for his church interiors. By combining the etching technique with careful hand-colouring, Ploos van Amstel produced "printed drawings". His coat of arms is printed on the verso.
