Quarter Michallet blue paper with printed paper label on upper left cover, cream paper boards with a repeat pattern of "daisy" printed in pink and green, handmade grey cardboard portfolio and paper slipcase. Uncut copy.
Limited edition to 185 copies. 1 of the 175 (unnumb. copy) on Arches handmade paper printed in Brook. With one b/w wood-engr. ill. by Laurence Binyon, the two borders and one ornament in green, one initial in red, fifteen initials and pressmark in black and white designed by Lucien and engraved by Esther Pissarro. The first in what the Pissarros called their Modern Series. This is the only ed. Binyon (1869-1943), Orientalist and later Keeper of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum, was an early friend of Charles Ricketts and Charles Shannon, founders of the Vale Press. There he met Pissarro who was part of the group of writers, scholars and artists around Ricketts and Shannon.
