Lot description

Double ended, chromolith., 10,7 x 5,9 cm, gilt and round corners, 54 cards. Back: floral decor in blue with gold highlights.

In original case (cover missing). Good condition.

The trumps are numbered in Roman numerals. Maker's name appears on all figures and trumps. AH with tax stamp "Deutsches Reich Nr 129". The game honours the great powers of France, England, Russia and Germany. The figures represent historical figures such as Louis XIV, Marie de' Medici, Corneille and Turenne for the hearts, Charles I, Elizabeth, Marlborough and Shakespeare for the diamonds, Peter the Great, Catherine II, Gordon and Lefort for the spades, Leopold I, Maria Theresa, Eugene and Kepler for the clubs. The trumps feature treasures or artefacts, crafts and occupations specific to each of these countries.
