Lot description

Watercolour on vellum: 64 x 78 cm, 72,5 x 76,5 cm, 67,5 x 73 cm, 64,5 x 78 cm (some stains in the margins or the blank parts, 1 leaf with some holes and lacks, including 3 with significant losses to the coats of arms but finely restored).

Each under modern wooden frame and glass.

Nice series depicting the 32 genealogical quarters of Lucas Willem van Essen (1686-1737), lord of Vanenburg, of his wife Wilhelmina Johanna Torck (1689-1767), of Evert Jan Benjamin van Goltstein (1665-1744), and of his wife Charlotta Agnes van Essen (1683-1748), from the branch of Helbergen and Oldenhave. The son of E.J.B. van Goltstein and C.A. van Essen, Philips Hendrik Baron van Goltstein (1715-1775), married in 1745 Judith Margaretha van Essen (1720-1793), daughter of L.W. van Essen en W.J. Torck. Altogether, 258 coats of arms (4 unfulfilled). Joined: 3 coats-of-arms under modern frame and glass: (1). J.A. Baron Mulert. C. 1855. Watercolour on brown paper, 20 x 23 cm.
