Lot description
Bifolio (22,5 x 17 cm): [2] pp., on laid paper with watermark "A Malmeneide", pen and brown ink, in French, s. "Le mar[éch]al duc de Boufflers" (2 marg. pinholes). Good condition.
Response to a request from the town of Furnes for a reduction in war taxes and permission for three soldiers who were citizens of the town. Boufflers had taken Furnes in 1693, which earned him his marshal's baton. While remaining at the head of the army of the Meuse, he became governor general of Flanders and Hainaut in 1694.
Joined: 1. Verdinan, lieutenant-colonel - Certificate of service in the Hainaut Regiment. Thionville, 16 October 1684. Obl. 12mo (17 x 22 cm), on laid paper, pen and brown ink, in French (sm. marg. holes). Private Laverdure served 11 years in the regiment and "y a esté estropié au siege de St Guilain". - 2.
