A female knight in armour reclines on the competition field while a male knight holds her hand. In the background we see a rearing horse, while the crowd looks in amazement at this intimate scene. Van Offel (Antwerp 1871- 1959) was a Belgian painter, illustrator, writer, poet, bookbinding designer and draftsman. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
