Drawings, watercolour, heightened with gum, pencil, 19 x 11 cm, cardboard 27,5 x 22 cm, both signed, 1 drystamped "Bristol board" and "A. Giroux à Paris".

Refined, detailed watercolours of snakes, including Tropidonotus torquatus, Dryinus nasutus, Crotalus durissus, Cerastes cornustus, etc. Original illustrations by Oudart for Charles d'Orbigny's "Dictionnaire Universel d'Histoire Naturelle", Reptiles pl. 10 & 13. Oudart (1796-1860) was an illustrator of animal species and worked at the French National Museum of Natural History in Paris.
