Lot description

Etchings, 2 hand-coloured, ca. 21,1 x 28,1 cm, laid paper, German text throughout etching and in lower margin (some with folds, few with stains, 1 cut to image).

From Hogenberg's "Geschichtsblätter" and Aitsinger's "De Leone Belgico" by the Flemish etcher and publisher Frans Hogenberg (ca. 1538-1590), who was mainly active in Cologne. Depicting various events from the Eighty Years' War in Antwerp, Diest, Mechelen, Tienen and Westerlo.
