Lot description
Oblong 8vo: title, 17 ff., laid paper.
Loose in ill. paper folder (sl. used, 1 flap missing). Good copy.
Portfolio with 17 photolithographs by the German artist G. Grosz (1893-1959), made for a stage play after the book "The adventures of the good soldier Schwejk" by Jaroslav Hašek. Plate 10, titled "Maul halten und weiter dienen" [Shut up, keep serving], showing Christ on the cross with a gas mask and boots, led to a trial for blasphemy. Very rare complete copy, particularly the title is often missing, as well as the "Crucifixion" (num. 10).
