Refined engraving by the Antwerp-born Pieter van Schuppen, who was mainly active in Paris. Bust portrait of the French statesman Pierre Séguier (1588-1672), who was Chancellor of France from 1635 until his death. Related paintings by Le Brun are in the castles of Versailles (inv. MV 3473) and Saint-Brisson-sur-Loire (inv. 45271).
