Lot description
Gouache, pen and black ink, wove paper, 29,5 x 45,5 cm, signed and dated.
Design drawing by André Theunissen (1894-1946), the official painter of the French Navy and well-known for his lithographed poster "Engagez-vous dans la Marine". Presumably drawn for "La guerre navale racontée par les amiraux". Incl. a transversal view of Nautilus, the submarine that Robert Fulton (1765-1815) proposed to the Directory, to break the blockade of England in 1800, and 6 other submarines.
