18th-c. Dutch vellum, flat spine titled in ink.

Third edition (1st: 1684) of a work on the Roman Republic by the French Jesuit Cantel (1645-1684). Illustrated with a frontispiece and 15 plates, of which 8 fold., depicting combats of gladiators, circus games, triumphal processions, shields, etc., extracted from works of Lipsius and Panvinio. With one fold. table with the captions of the plan of Rome.
