Contemp. limp marbled boards, flat spine and cover titled in ink, archival document (fragment of an account book) used as lower endpaper. Excellent uncut copy.
Well-documented account of the liberation of Lier by Mechelen and Antwerp citizens in 1595, an episode of the Dutch Revolt, compiled by the Mechelen notary and historian De Munck (1740-1792). With a list of reprints of 16th-c. works on the period published by L. and J.F. van der Elst (f. A2 recto - A4 recto). Loosely inserted a woodcut showing the obverse and reverse of the commemorative medal of 1595, with an 18th-c. manuscript note in Dutch.
