Karl August Varnhagen von Ense (1785-1858) was writer, journalist, diplomat, historiographer and literary critic, a central figure of the literary Berlin of his time. Letter accompanying a book that the author sends to his correspondent, stating in passing that for his article on the Congress of Vienna important details were provided by the Count Metternich: "[...] auch im dritten Bande einiges im dem Aufsatze über den Wiener Kongress, wozu der Fürst van Metternich selbst mir ein paar Berichtigungen gegeben hat [...]".
